BACKSTAGE & CHANGEROOMS
INDEPENDANE, PREPARATION & PERFORMANCE
Our backstage process is designed to give students confidence and clarity as they move from rehearsal to showtime. With guidance from our staff and volunteers, students will transition through change rooms, warm-ups, and stage cues with independence and support.
WHAT HAPPENS AT CHECK IN
On concert day, students will check in at their designated arrival time in the auditorium and directed by a staff member to their change room. Parents are welcome to help their students find their groups designated space in the change room before any rehearsing.
If possible we will utilise the stage to rehearse each age group routines, alternatively routines will be run in the change room if the stage is not yet ready for use.
We kindly ask that no parents are present during this time as it is a closed rehearsal. Save the magic and surprises for the show!
WHAT HAPPENS BACKSTAGE
The change room is a calm and encouraging environment where students are grouped with their classmates and supported by familiar teachers and helpers.
We keep energy levels relaxed and positive. Students are escorted side-stage by staff when it’s time to perform during the show and celebrated with high-fives and cheers as they come off. Our goal is to make every cast member feel like a star while ensuring they’re cared for every step of the way.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE CHANGE ROOMS
The change rooms are an important part of concert day, and we keep them, structured, clean, and well-supervised. Students will store their costumes and belongings here, and staff and designated helpers are on hand to assist with any quick changes or costume touch-ups.
Only approved staff and volunteers are permitted in the change rooms throughout the show for safety and to minimise distractions.
Each age group has a designated area and it is encouraged that they pack healthy and CLEAN snacks & meals for the day. Only water is permitted backstage and we ask that every item of yours is labelled.
WHAT HAPPENS AT PICK UP
At the conclusion of the concert your students can be collected from the upstairs change room after costume drop off is completed. To ensure a calm and safe, dismissal, we ask that only one parent or guardian enters the space to collect their child.
Staff will sign each student from Petites - Juniors out individually and reunite them with their adult. Please ensure you have all belongings with you before you leave.
Please show patience for the sign out process — safety is our priority, and we want to make sure each cast member finishes their big day with a smile and a proud hug, followed by a really good quality sleep!
